| Training Methods: | Gymnasium/classroom based using the principles of adult learning and EDIP principle (explain, demonstrate, imitate and practice) and developmental coaching. | |
| Assessment: | This will be continuous for the duration of the course providing personal development in this subject. There will be no formal assessment. | |
| Course Aim: | To provide delegates with the basic knowledge, understanding and skills to break free from a potential physical assault | |
| Course Objectives: | By the end of the course, delegates should be able to: |
- Give examples of a range of appropriate options that can be used to deal with conflict situations
- Identify relevant use of force legislation and medical implications of techniques
- Explain the importance of 360º awareness, effective stance and movement
- Demonstrate balance displacement techniques
- Demonstrate basic breakaway techniques
- Apply learned skills in appropriate training scenario’s
- Recognise the importance of post incident procedures
Content
We will aim to conduct the workshop within 6 hours with appropriate comfort breaks. The content of the day will include the following using a variety of methodology following the principles of adult learning and EDIP. The length of time given to each module may vary dependant on the competency and previous training received by the delegates.
- Aggression management model
- Tactical awareness (360°) and positioning
- Stance and movement
- Balance displacement skills
- Common types of assault
- Defensive blocking skills
- Techniques against grabs (wrist, clothing, and hair)
- Techniques against strangles (front and rear)
- Medical implications of techniques
- Progressive pressure drills.
We can provide a detailed lesson plan if required.
