To provide delegates with the basic knowledge, understanding and skills to deal with potential edged weapon incidents. |

| Course Objectives: |
|
By the end of the course, delegates should be able to: |
- Describe different categories of edged weapon and how they may be concealed.
- Define common forms of edged weapon attack.
- Demonstrate effective self-defence strategies and skills when dealing with a potential edged weapon offender.
- Recognise the overall affects of dealing with an edged weapon encounter.
- Determine the benefits of critical incident debriefing.
Content
We will aim to conduct the workshop within 5 hours with appropriate comfort breaks. The content of the day will include the following using a variety of methodology following the principles of adult learning and EDIP. The length of time given to each module may vary dependant on the competency and previous training received by the delegates.
- Identifying common postures and behaviour of edged weapon attackers
- Types of edged weapon, concealment and methods of attack
- Injury potential and basic 1st aid
- Tactical awareness (360°) and positioning
- Stance and movement
- Common types of assault
- Defensive blocking skills
- Counter strikes and evasion
- Progressive pressure drills.
- Defusing/debrief model
We can provide a detailed lesson plan if required.
