To provide delegates with the basic knowledge, understanding and skills to deal with potential conflict situations. |

| Course Objectives: |
|
By the end of the course, delegates should be able to: |
- Have examined their current level of knowledge regarding conflict resolution by way of a self-assessment test
- Have re-visited impact factors and warning and danger signs using a work based case study
- Have explored the tools available to them that can assist in the resolution of a conflict
- Have experienced the impact of physical stance and positioning on their personal safety during an incident
- Be able to recognise and understand the stages of a conflict as it may occur
Content
We will aim to conduct the workshop within 3½-4 hours with appropriate comfort breaks. This is designed around the specific objectives set by the CFSMS and will be presented in a power point format using various methodology e.g. facilitation, group exercises and demonstrations. The length of time given to each module may vary dependant on the competency and previous training received by the delegates.
- Aggression management model
- Communication skills
- Impact factors – Person, object and place
- NVC’s - Warning and danger signs and submission signs
- Common Offender Behaviour
- 3 stages of aggression
- Proxemics – Intimate, personal and public zones.
- Distance –action v reaction.
- Stance and non-aggressive postures
