
Bernard has worked for the NHS for 22 years, primarily within mental health settings. His work experience includes acute mental health assessment, forensic psychiatry, older adult assessment and assertive outreach in the community.
He has worked as a qualified personal safety instructor for the NHS for the last ten years and as a prevention and management of violence and aggression instructor for 9 years. He is also a qualified conflict resolution trainer.
Bernard provides training for staff from many disciplines, including nurses, doctors, dentists, residential care, forensic, social work and ancillary staff. He is also involved with the training of other personal safety instructors.
He has been an associate lecturer in personal safety and prevention and management of violence and aggression for Sheffield Hallam University since 2007.
